This is getting bad in a hurry.
We should all start thinking now about helping somewhere, somehow when it's over.

Pray for cool waters to lesson the impact of the storm, and save lives.
THAT is the kind of thing one should pray for.

i think we all want to believe somewhere in the back of our minds that the climate issues arent really as bad as they say regards immediacy, that yes we have an issue but surely we wont see more and more deadly weather events like this so soon, surely they wont get worse this quickly, surely we have some time to figure out how to prevent it...
maybe not...maybe it really is as bad as they have been saying it is...

The weather Channel just said it could be an unheard of Cat 6 and NO shelters will be set up in NOLA, none>.<
Weather Channel also just showed another tropical storm thats heading from the East and could slam into Florida and especially the Keys.
I think Global Warming has slowed that thing they call the conveyor belt way down so the water is real warm and warm water makes these hurricanes bigger and badder.

looks like the site has crashed - too many trying to log in. last i looked they had updated the time of landfall to 2pm monday.
wanted to see the 'baby' you're talking about. could it be part of hanna coming in from the east?
as a note - my stepson is packing and getting out shortly. going to stay with friends in tulsa.
this is some scary shit!

Ummm, guys and gals???? Where is our Goddess Randi? Hanna is not going to slow down either, and I want to make sure she and her Mom and all her loved ones are SAFE...
As for me and mine - well if Gustav decides to hit home in Texas, we'll be floating with rain a day or so later, but we're on high enough ground that our only real concern is the tornado effect these things tend to generate. They're opening up shelters here and I'm planning on taking the shelter manager course this weekend so I can spell someone who needs a break.
Might as well cover all the bases - but Randi, if you need a place and we're out of the target area, the door's open and Gizmo would love Simon's company!!
Hugs, all -
Kyoti

There is an eye in the Gulf north of Gustav.
I'm busy as a bee. I'll either go to Tallahassee or stay here. I'm not sure that small high pressure system is enough to keep a storm that powerful moving west.
I'm thinking that the best I can hope for is to find high ground and dig a hole
