Randi mentioned Palin's plan for education: fund it

Randi said it already is.

I work in education and I know it is not. There are schools closing here and kids are being packed into other schools due to a lack of funding. They're cutting programs like gym and art because they can't afford it. They're even talking about cutting it down to a 4 day week and giving the kids 3 day weekends.

So k-12 does need to be fully funded. But I would ask Palin: where do you plan to get the money to fund it? Obviously not from raising taxes. She has no plan, she doesn't know what she's doing or what she's talking about.

Randi completely understands the issues and problems with the education system in this country. She was simply demonstrating the lack of depth of Palin has on the issues. Randi is often coming from a place of irony.

Instead of saying "It already is fully funded" it would have been better if she had said "Ok, where do you plan to get the money?"

One of the first things Republicans like to cut money on is education. And sadly, in opinion polls on what issues are important to people, education is always last or near the bottom of people's concerns.

Republicans are created when people are uneducated.

I'm seeing another bumper sticker here.

Republicans follow the polls. Most college educated people vote Democrat. Those without tend to go Republican. Therefore, it's in the best interest of Republicans to keep people from getting a decent education.

Let's cut programs kids need and waste their time teaching them about Jesus in Science class.

Aye yi yi... I hope she didn't mean it how it sounds on this thread. Coming from Cali I'm very familiar with defunding of education.

But yeah... Repubs like to defund everything until the government diminishes and everything is privatized; eventually creating a government of some people by the corporations for the few. (Lincoln turns over in grave) Decrease the taxes and whatever is left coming in... give away in no-bid contracts to more private corps.

She was making a point and couldn't possibly speak for every school district across America; the point is, where are Palin's thoughtful ideas and positions on the subject, even the typical RW idea of using school vouchers would have been more substantial than to say "fully funded". In Los Angeles, despite problems with the State budget, school are being built and tucked into every location that one can fit in. Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) teachers are looking at taking a possible pay cut and new schools are still being built using bond measures.
