What do we know about Sarah Palin?

She's a popular governor with some mixed history of standing up to Alaskan Republicans and big oil. In the next few days we will hear a lot about her "soccer mom" lifestyle and "Miss Congeniality" awards. We'll hear about her DRILL DRILL DRILL mentality to solving gas prices and her staunch anti-choice beliefs.

We all know that she is under investigation for abuse of power and there are audio recordings to back it up. What you won't hear on the news is this list of other things you didn't know about the woman they call "Miss Barracuda."

MODERATORS: Perhaps the lovely and talented Ms. Palin needs her own Subforum? fuct.gif

I seriously wonder if the main reason for delaying the RNC activities is to fully vet Palin and have her gracefully bow out.

Possibly, but I'm thinking worries about the storm and all the fallout that would occur if they happily went ahead with the convention DURING the storm. They must be aware of all the fallout that's STILL haunting them after Katrina.

If they really wanted to make it happen, they could let the party bigwigs "phone it in" from their respective states. I doubt that they're too anxious to go ahead with their uninspiring event.

They can hardly cancel the RNCC outright. Merely re-booking hotels and travel arrangements represents a nightmare for the delegates, which will hardly inveigle them to be happy peppy GOPeeps, which in turn is as much a nightmare for the RNC as the tightrope act of rallying round Gustav while trying to make U.S. all forget about Katrina is. If they do end up postponing the convention, they've lost the momentum of the already fading Palin punch against the burgeoning Obama-Biden bus stump. Lose-lose scenario.

Reports have it that they're planning on transforming the convention to an all out "concern for the victims of Gustav" event. Fundraisers for the victims, packing of survival kits on the floor, McCain accepting his nomination from the disaster area, that kind of thing.
