Here's some pretty scary shit, IMHO...
http://harpers.org/archive/2008/08/hbc-90003486From a July 28, 2007 sermon: “Do you believe we’re in the last days? After listening to Newt Gingrich and the prime minister of Israel and a number of others at our gathering, I became convinced, and I have been convinced for some time. We are living in the last days. These are incredible times to live in."

Christian conservatives like Gary Bauer, Tony Perkins, and James Dobson have hailed McCain’s selection of Palin. Dobson, the head of Focus on the Family, vowed earlier this year never to support McCain. However, within hours of Palin’s addition to the G.O.P. ticket, he had changed his tune, saying, he had “not been so excited about a political candidate since Ronald Reagan.” Given the viewpoints expressed by Palin’s pastors, it’s easy to understand why Christian conservatives are so excited.

my take is this;
in order to help the rapture along, the christian right should vote in obama, since (according to some) he's the anti-christ or whatever.
its a win really.

This Palin thing is a "teachable moment" for the US electorate. I'd wager that less than 15% of the electorate knows what Christian Reonctructionism, or Dominionism, is. But it's important for them to understand, to be able to guard against an outcome they probably don't want. Palin is probably more Dominionist than Huckabee, who was quietly so. The religious beliefs of anyone who believes in the FUSING of church and state (e.g., Palin, any Dominionist) are germane, especially when their intent is to reverse the spirit of the Constitution. The religious beliefs of those who believe in separation of church and state (e.g, Obama) are not so germane.

Let's get it out, turn it on, and examine this pastor and EVERY OTHER ONE Palin has ever had. NO DOUBT ... there's a LOT of stuff to be found that could easily compete with Rev. Wright for shock value and for repulsive, reflexive reaction among many independent voters.
Lay it out, baby! Let's see what's under them rocks already thrown at us, and thrown it back twice as hard!

I have been praying that we find a tape of Palin or her minister speaking in tongues but God is busy with vengeance on New Orleans since they didn't get the message about homosexuals and Mardi Gras the first time.

Maybe they should pass a law only allowing atheists to run for office. They could wear a hat with a little Red Star on it.

And FYI, this particularly peculiar Pastor Pepper better go back and re-read his Bible, because Jesus didn't say: "You can’t serve both man and God. It is one or the other."
He said, "Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's, and render unto God, that which is God's."
Even Christ believed in a seperation of Church and State.
This nitwit must have also missed the part where Jesus said his Kingdom was "not of this Earth."
You know - and I say this as someone who attended a fine Jesuit institution and who got a first rate religious and secular education - these rightwing extremist religious loons aren't just morons on matters of science, they're crappy theologians too.

If we want to go down this road (shakes head emphatically) we'll have to put it in bumper stick phrases:
Sermon on the Mount = Obama
or
The Apocolypse = Bush/McCain
You choose Mr. and Mrs. Religious Voter.
