Full Version: The price of gas

The Bush administration don't want the price of gas to go up now, it's too close to the presidential elections. They know that the American people will blame them for raising the price, and the Republicans will take a hit for it including John McCain. Any other time the price of gas would skyrocket behind this hurricane (Gustav). Within the last three weeks the price of gas has been coming down, does anyone know why? Seems to me it could've came down a long time ago if Wall Street speculators were put in check by our government. Our government is suspose to protect us, not hurt us. They did nothing the same as they did for Katrina three years ago. Now they act like they are so concerned about New Orleans. It seems to me that it's only because of the elections are so close. I can't think of a word bad enough to call these people running this administration, they are just outrageous. (above the law) I can't wait until the Democrats take over in November. They do this every four years the thing that amazes me is people buy it.

Republicans sicken me.
May the waters of Gustav push them away forever.

At it's peak, if I recall, oil was around $160 a barrel and gas around $4.50 a gallon. Now oil is around $110 ( about two-thirds) and gas is around, oh $3.60 (about 4/5). Gas is not the same price as it was, when oil was at $110, going up. It's a great trick if you can pull it off. Scumsucking oil companies.

People are so gullible they trust their government, but the low-lifes take advantage of that trust. Some of us can see through the bullcrap in the very begining. When they were making their case for war in Iraq, I could see through the crap they were throwing around. But, 911 seem to blind everybody to the truth. We are in big trouble. smile.gif

It's easy to trick everybody when your government is behind it.

This country is something else.
There are so many of us who are educated, keep track of the issues, etc.
But so many people in this country are complacent and jut plain dumb.
Sorry, but it's true.

Besides the trickery, how else could bush get in twice? Idiots.

Seems to me that oil was around 25 or 35 dollars a barrel when Bush took office.

$3.35+/- per gallon in my neck of the woods. How come it dropped? Gee, I dunno, maybe the states got their knickers in a twist when sales tax across the board started to drop. That sales tax is the grease of the machine. We'd have all out riots if the states failed. So, instead, it's death as usual by 100,000 cuts.

Don' be fooled by the drop in gas-at-the-pump-prices. All it is is more lipstick-on- a-pig busy_ness as usual DC leadership fucktardian policy

Why is gas prices down?

Well now there is a good question.

Since Gustav forced at least 4 offshore oil rigs to STOP pumping, you'd think the price would go UP, now wouldn't you?

I mean that's what the Republicans have been screaming about in the dark for the past couple weeks over, right? More offshore drilling will supposedly produce lower prices?

So therefore LESS offshore drilling OUGHT to produce HIGHER prices, now shouldn't it?

That is, IF the prices are actually connected to supply and demand, and not SPECULATION.....

But the truth of the matter is that the high prices haven't got one damn thing to do with supply and demand, which is why the Republican "solution" is no solution AT ALL.

The problem as it was with Enron and so it is with the Enron Loophole, is with rampant Wall St. speculation fucking over Main St.

Think back to 2004 in August/September. They always go down just before and election how else can the repiggies get their people to canvas and knock on doors?

Are you kidding me? Gas is around $3.75/gallon.
The question is: When did we get to the point where this is acceptable?

It's not acceptable. The price of food and other non-luxury items are up up up and will stay there. I have never heard of the price of things going down (once it goes up) in my lifetime. They are still squeezing, but trying to make it appear that all is happy, happy sunshine. They totally controlled the politics of Gustav thanks to Exxon's MSM.

Let them, we know the truth, and so does Obama. He is continuing to respond to McCain/Bush malfeasance. Just last night he mentioned the "Road Home" program and how it is has failed the displaced victims of Katrina residents and was literally tied up in McCain/Bush/Lieberman bureaucracy.

And now, thousands and thousands are displaced AGAIN. I will be watching to see all the Republicans who pledged millions of dollars to help these people, where they go, what they say, and what they really do.

But to answer the question which has already been answered, McCain/Bush control the price of everything. Money trumps everything. Kind of fascist, eh?

Gas prices have crept steadily back up in my neck of the woods.
