Bristol Palin's boyfriend, Levi Johnston
Musclehead 18-year-old hockey player:
Doe-eyed Bristol Palin, 17, and ruggedly handsome Levi Johnston, an 18-year-old self-described "f---in' redneck," have been dating a year, locals in Wasilla, Alaska, told the Daily News.
And the pregnancy? An open secret in the close-knit town of 9,780. . . .
On his MySpace page, Johnston proudly declares: "I'm a f---in' redneck."
"I live to play hockey. I like to go camping and hang out with the boys, do some fishing," he says on the site.
He also warns that if anyone messes with him, "I'll kick ass."
Way to go, f---in' redneck. Your f---in' stupidity might have just elected f---in' Obama.

By the way, in my column today, I predicted it would take less than 24 hours for the press to ID Mr. Teen Inseminator, and they did the job in barely 12.
UPDATE: Somebody just e-mailed me this touchy-feely blog post about the Palin family, and it merely infuriates me:
I wish her and her husband-to-be and their baby safety and joy. And as much privacy as they can find. I intensely admire both her decision to choose life, and her decision to further sacrifice her privacy in order to support her mom for the betterment of our country. And as far as I'm concerned, that's the end of that.
Don't you people realize that politics ain't beanbag? You're up against the Democratic Party and the MSM, and they're not going to cut you any slack. This is the biggest possible game for the highest possible stakes -- the presidency of the United States -- and all your tender-hearted concern for two teenagers in love isn't worth squat in such a situation.
Send me no more such sentimental gush. It's worse than useless at this point.

UPDATE II: The Washington Post put no fewer than five reporters on the story, including one who knocked on the door of Johnston's family home in Wasilla. Did Team Maverick warn the Palin family about this?

UPDATE III: An anonymous commenter says I should "be ashamed" for "laying a trip like that on" Mr. Baby Daddy. Why? Because he's a teenage jock? C'mon, who doesn't know how teenage jocks behave? Do you really expect me to believe that Levi "f---in' redneck" Johnston wasn't bragging to all his buddies about nailing the governor's daughter?

Why do you suppose Bristol's pregnancy was "no secret" in Wasilla, hmmm? Because that musclehead braggart told everybody in town, that's why. And I should be "ashamed" of denouncing this cretinous hoodlum? Make. Me. Laugh.

In the meantime whenever the MSM reports on this, which is at least 3 times an hour, they qualify by saying they really don't want to report on this, and we really should leave it alone, but the mean old blogosphere is forcing us to do it .... I recall we were having a debate about the meaning of hypocrisy in a couple of other threads ... folks, if anyone still has any questions as to the definition of hypocrisy, just refer to the MSM and the Palin baby bump story.

For it to be statutory rape in Alaska, there needs to be a difference in age of at least 3 years.

Bristol is 17.

Leave the kids alone guys. There's more substantive stuff to go after.

You know, I wish we could stop talking about this. He's an 18 year old kid and she's a 17 year old kid. Obviously they both made choices that 17 and 18 year old kids would make. The only choice they didn't make was to become national news.

There are SO many substantive things about Palin that we could be talking about, and we are talking about. But, this thing is overshadowing the important stuff.

Ah Alaska, that bastion of family values.

On a serious level, McCain's play with Palin is to shore up the ultra right-wing "social conservatives" who love to condemn progressives for their Godless mores and behavior. Maybe a little light shown on the whole picture could be healthy.
toptier
For the sake of consistency, I would really like to know how old these two kids are.

Just hours before the announcement that Bristol was pregnant, she was 16.

Now she's 17.

The first reports we hear about the Baby Daddy, he's referred to as 18.

Now he's 17, too.

The reason I even give a sh!t is that it reeks of more lies and cover up.

Tweaking. Spinning.

Just give their correct ages and stick with it. Do you think it really matters, at this point, if you shave a year off one and fudge a year onto another!?

I mean, seriously. Just quit jacking us around.

You know, on the side of decency I agree, but there's another angle...The statistics that show pregnancy and marriage and being in the family way at this age in a couple's life is the highway to poverty.

So, I want to pay attention to this couple. I wanna see how they make it. WE can document it and share it with the rest of America's teenagers as a plan for success...particularly financial success.

These ChristoFascists set the bar for the rest of us (apparently it's pretty low). Lets see how they deal...how they fare. I wish them well. I want to know how they will manage. That is if they don't rely on their parents....Republicans don't believe in welfare for families, right?

Oh the hypocrisy is on the horizon

If the Repukes would just take the culture wars off the table these children could fade into obscurity.

Instead, you know, the Repukes ChristoFascist ideology is on trial here.

If anybody helps them...OOOps what about rugged individualism? What about ownership society values?

Now that Bristol is preggers, she is an adult and she will be expected to act and behave as an adult as will her baby daddy.

Sorry, they don't warrant the protection of privacy we give children. From a SW_POV,(based on the fact that they are both over 16 years of age) They wanted t to do adult things; they got snagged, now they are adults and they better start acting like adults, because we're going to see them as adults, treat them like adults and expect adult behavior from them.

If Bristol were running for VP I would agree with you. She's paying dearly for her mother's choice.

And I don't want to follow these kids through their lives. I want this story to die completely in November when Mom returns to Alaska and finishes her term as Governor. The only way this story will stay alive is if her Mom becomes VP.

once bristol gets married she can no longer be covered on her parent's insurance policy -- therefore she will have no health insurance for her or her baby -- i guess 18 yo levi will find a great job in wasilla, ak to provide him and his new young family with all the proper health insurance....or, will she have to use the public medical system.... will bristol be sucking up govt dollars to care for her young family or will her mommy, the new vp use her influence and money in DC to pay for them?

I feel sorry for Bristol. But as long as the Republicans oppose choice, sex education in schools and birth control for minors, this story is germane to the national political debate. Bristol is the poster child that proves the conservatives are wrong to rely on the abstinence only solution.

Here's my take on that carmen, especially after listening to Christine Craft on KGO last night devote most her entire show to this. All my conjecture, but it makes the whole thing make sense to me.

Sarah Palin was never pregnant with Trig. He was Bristol's. Sarah went thru the whole charade to cover up her abstinence only daughter's problem, which to her was an even bigger problem, complicating her future ambitions.

The drama of the water-breaking flight and all that I think was cover as she was in a hurry to get home to run the cover-up when Bristol went into labor early and delivered at the small hospital there near Wasilla.

Remember, Bristol had been out of school for nearly 5 months by this time...mono. Yeah, right.

Now they are claiming Bristol is actually now preggers...I doubt she is again (good luck with the press ever gettting close enough to her, or getting any records, or anyone to talk to confirm if she is or not, or ever was)...and somewhere down the line here, whether Sarah stays on the ticket or not, there will be some kind of "accident", "miscarriage", etc. and it'll all be good.

At least for Sarah Palin.

And isn't that what everything is REALLY all about?

Again, not really. Don't forget, the HIPPA and other health laws make it EXTREMELY difficult to get information legally on anyone's medical history.

Health workers are protected BY LAW from having to answer, provide, or otherwise assist in this kind of investigation unless and until a WHOLE lot of legal processes have approved said investigation.

And conversely, they are subject to EXTREME penalty if , say, they are convicted for supplying privileged information to like, oh, I don't know...the National Enquirer.

Yes. It hypocritical. She has the failure of "abstinence-only" education staring her in the face. To mention point that she has personal experience of her own policy failure and doesn't seem to understand that is a valid observation.

Slamming these kids, though, is just slamming these kids.

With all due respect, I don't see many people slamming the kids.

To me they are victims of their parents hypocritical, flawed morality, and that is how I see most others discussing their situation, too.

Levi calling himself a f'n redneck, his attitudes, his behaviour etc., all come from SOMEWHERE.

Says he who hasn't been able to demonstrate a familiarity with the meaning of the word hypocrisy by explaining how Sarah Palin violated one of her claimed principles when her daughter became pregnant.

She certainly demonstrated that her claimed principles are worth shit, that they're unrealistic and foolish, and that others of her beliefs would have the government imposing its judgment on individuals. But no one yet back on that thread has been able to explain how Palin's daughter getting pregnant is proof of Palin's hypocrisy.

Again:
QUOTE
hy·poc·ri·sy

1. a pretense of having a virtuous character, moral or religious beliefs or principles, etc., that one does not really possess.

2. a pretense of having some desirable or publicly approved attitude.

I think LOTS of other things reveal Sarah Palin to be a hypocrite, and the pregnancy MAY reveal Bristol to be a hypocrite - if she claims the same "virtuous character" or "moral or religious beliefs or principles" her mother does. But Bristol getting pregnant doesn't refute Sarah's claimed virtue, or belief in certain moral or religious principles, for example opposition to pre-marital sex.

On the other hand, Libs railing away at Bristol's boyfriend and at Bristol, mocking and teasing about them does evidence some hypocrisy among those who claimed to be appalled at the way Obama and his family have been treated by the Right.

Now she was abused??

Psychological abuse, it could have come from her family orvher BF.

Personally I believe not teaching your child about sex education is a form of abuse. Also, we don't know if Bristol asked her parents for permission to get/use birth control and was refused because of religious reasons

I'll assume she was raisd in a decent home with strict rules on sexual behavior.

Depening in Bristol's personality, her parent's might have been too strict.

Or conversely she cold have been a typical teenage with self esteem issues and the baby daddy took advantage.

Then there's another option, she's not abused at all, she's "mature" for her age and willful.

A forth option could be that this is typical behavior for teens where Bristol grew up so it's no big whoop.

I admit I have a soft spot for wayward teenagers, so I assume they were influenced , acting out, conned or coerced...but the truth is there are willful young adults and they're gonna do what they're gonna do no matter what. And that's why she needs to be treated like an adult. If she want's to do adult things then she needs to be treated like an adult.

Unfortunately even though we should be able to talk about this because the repugnants do this crap to us and they are so damn hypocritical, I heard about how Obama had to make a statement against anonymous sources that were saying his campaign forced poor Sarah Palin to come out with this information. rolleyes.gif So I think we should tone it down a bit. Even though we can prove that it wasn't Obama's campaign that leaked anything as tons of people in Alaska knew about this crap already and were writing stuff about it.

Self described F'ing redneck according to Stephanie Miller...she just said it, biggrin.gif

Sheesh, I hope it winds up being all worth it.

He looks like a punk, But to be fair, most 18 year old boys look like punks.

Sheeet, 18 and yer life is over.

What kind of message is that to send out to hormone enraged teenaged boys?

There's only so many keepers in the lower forty_eight trailer park

Lets hope Levi picked right!

Bristol's mother WAS the GOVERNOR at the time of conception.
So I don't see how their choice was not to become national news.
When your mom's the governor, and has enemies in her own party, your underage out-of-wedlock pregnancy is always major news.

I want to know why a self-respecting f***ing redneck and Ass-kicker like this ISN'T IN IRAQ.

I guess f***ing Rednecks and Ass-kickers are also COWARDS.

Seems like a guy like this should GO TO IRAQ to prove he's NOT A COWARD.

No...we shouldn't wish any kid a trip to Iraq...it's a horror show that nobody deserves. How does talking about these kids help Obama win? Come on folks? How does it help? they're just kids...they didn't ask for this. Mama can eat shit all day and night, but not the kids.

Because in this country we still believe in inheritance, and defend it to the last breath.

We just give lip service to equality of opportunity.

So if it's ok for kids to benefit from their parents' good deeds (*cough* Chelsea Clinton *cough*), then it's only fair that they should also suffer for their parents' misdeeds. Which fits right in with the evangelical Christian Old Testament message anyway.
