No contraception is 100%, especially when those involved are young, or the man or woman doesn't know how to use said contraception because they received inadequate sex education.

And it's not a baby, it's a fetus. If you are going to claim that you know when a SOUL enters that fetus, I would submit that that really IS above your pay grade, and you most definitely don't have the right to tell anyone else what to do in such a situation.

Don't like abortion? Don't have one. Problem solved.

Besides, even if you did know when that fetus became sentient or a soul entered the body, it still wouldn't matter, because the Constitution SPECIFICALLY only protects "Persons BORN". For a bunch of supposed Constitutional literalists, I find it fascinating that so many conservatives conveniently forget that little tidbit.

Anyhow, the abortion debate isn't about saving lives anyways.

In places where abortion is not only made illegal, but profoundly punative, abortions are actually 4 times more common, and on top of that, the mother's life is placed at risk. So that's two lives you're throwing to the winds. If you're really pro-life, you should be pro-choice. Make abortion safe, legal, and rare, due to comprehensive sex education. Abortions went down by half under Clinton, and have tripled under Bush.

The truth of the matter is, the "abortion debate" isn't about saving lives, it's about subjugating women.

It just pisses me off when the looney rightwing portray people who are Pro-Choice as "murderers" because in fact, their "solution" is even MORE risky to life.

And they victimize average people on the right who actually ARE trying to "preserve life".

That is a noble goal. If that's your goal.

But the problem is, outlawing abortion is precisely the wrong way to ACHIEVE that goal. In fact, in the REAL world, it does the exact opposite.

But the God's honest truth is, those in the LEADERSHIP of that movement are less motivated by a desire to preserve life, than they are to reduce women back to second class citizens.

You can tell this is true, because they do things like John McCain did, like supporting the inclusion of Viagra as a drug covered under insurance plans, but no support for contraception. Boys get all the fun, girls take all the responsibility. That's the message that sends. And you can tell it's true because these same "Pro-Life" leaders are also invariably Pro-War too.
