At this point, I believe Palin will be nominated as VP on McNutty's ticket now that AIPAC is pleased with Palin. I also like how it's Lieberman and Palin who expressed their intentions to AIPAC about Iran. Now I wonder how many times Palin or McNutty meets with JStreet?

Palin meets with AIPAC

From NBC/NJ's Matthew E. Berger

MINNEAPOLIS -- Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin today met with the board of directors of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, NBC/NJ has confirmed.

The meeting took place inside Palin's hotel, sources said.

A campaign official would not say who asked for the meeting, but said it was geared towards putting the American Jewish community at ease over her understanding of US-Middle East relations.

"That's obviously going to be an issue," the aide said. "It's not like being the senator from New York, obviously. But these aren't issues that are off her radar."

Palin, joined by Sen. Joe Lieberman, expressed her "heartfelt support for Israel" and spoke of the threats it faces from Iran and others, the campaign official said.

"We had a good productive discussion on the importance of the U.S.-Israel relationship, and we were pleased that Gov. Palin expressed her deep, personal, and lifelong commitment to the safety and well-being of Israel," AIPAC spokesman Josh Block said. "Like Sen. McCain, the vice presidential nominee understands and believes in the special friendship between the two democracies and would work to expand and deepen the strategic partnership in a McCain/Palin Administration."

KKKarl Roverer: Congratulations! You have the backing of AIPAC.

Palin: Cool! Is there a B-pack and a C-pack? We need the votes. My daughter wants to know where the 6-pack is.

Nice. Glad to hear it. So I guess that puts her in agreement -- on the right side of the issue -- with Obama, Biden and McCain. Now lets move onto other issues where they disagree.

Palin needs to answer for why her church allowed the head of Jews for Jesus, David Brickner, to come and appear, and then claim Jews face terrorism in Israel for rejecting Jesus Christ.

http://www.slate.com/id/2174788/

She needs to answer for why she campaigns for anti-Semite Pat Buchanan.

Screw AIPAC.

This to me is more serious than McCain's "Hagee problem". If Joe L is going to continue pimping for both of them, he ought to explain this to Jews he wants to vote for them, as well as why McCain continues to use as a fundraiser, Fred Malek, the guy who was told by Nixon to "count the Jews" over at the Labor Department.

Palin is one confused little beauty queen. She needs to answer to a lot of things. I agree with you about Lieberman. He's truly pimping for some bad folks.

ANALYSIS: Sarah Palin . . . and the Jews
Jews ask, "Sarah who?"

By Rob Eshman

It took an Internet eternity for Jewish Republicans to come out swinging for Sarah, an just as long for Jewish Democrats to hit back.

"Homerun!" Larry Greenfield, the California director of the Republican Jewish Coalition, wrote me via e-mail five hours after McCain's announcement. "Governor Palin has a very close relationship with the Jewish community of Alaska, with Chabad (Rabbi Greenberg) and with AIPAC. She is close to the Frozen Chosen!"

.
.
.
.

But he chose Sarah Palin: former mayor of a small Alaska town, governor of Alaska, devout Christian.

For Jews who are not necessarily Israel Firsters, she carries some positives and negatives. Positives: she is a crusader for good government and a fiscal conservative. She is smart and successful and patriotic. Jews like all these things.

"As governor of Alaska, Palin has enjoyed a strong working relationship with Alaska's Jewish community. She has demonstrated sensitivity to the concerns of the community and has been accessible and responsive," said Republican Jewish Coalition Executive Director Matt Brooks.

Why SB, if I didn't know any better, you can't handle some heat that you carry with you yourself.

Define obsessed in your words. I've mentioned AIPAC a few times in this message board. I've talked about other things. That makes me obsessed with AIPAC??? By the way, AIPAC does play a role in US politics. Are you now trying to control discussion about AIPAC as well?

Surprise, surprise, surprise.

The Buchanan issue isn't going away. (I know you don't give a crap about it. I've tried to explain to you three ways from Sunday why Jewish Democrats ... or heck sane Jews ... cannot stand the anti-Semitic creep.)

Neither will the Brickner one.

AIPAC's blessing won't matter shit once people find out about this stuff.

It doesn't matter one bit to me if they bust Buchanan's chops over Palin. Hell, last Friday I saw Buchanan on tv being all against her before he was for her the following day. It's as if he didn't remember that she worked for him last friday. It was hilarious sh*t. Now he thinks her political Alaskan pie doesn't stink. Buchanan is hot and cold. When he's hot he's really on, but when he's cold he's a Repig barf bag.

I wished people would learn more about AIPAC, but it's not happening as far as I can see. It's still suggested in articles that it takes AIPAC to approve of US politicians before that politician will get a sniff. That's just wrong!

Sarah Palin tells AIPAC she’s pro-Israel

MINNEAPOLIS (JTA)—Sarah Palin, the Alaska governor who was tapped last week by Sen. John McCain to be his vice-presidential running mate, met for 45 minutes Tuesday in the Minneapolis area with several leaders of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee.

Also in attendance at the AIPAC meeting was U.S. Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I-Conn.), the McCain campaign’s most prominent Jewish backer.

McCain campaign spokesman Michael Goldfarb said Palin spoke about “the relationship between Israel and American national security, and the threats to Israel from Iran and others.”

“She was extremely well received,” Goldfarb said, noting that Palin was interrupted by applause twice.

AIPAC also praised the meeting.

” We had a good, productive discussion on the importance of the U.S.-Israel relationship, and we were pleased that Gov. Palin expressed her deep, personal and lifelong commitment to the safety and well-being of Israel,” the group’s spokesman, Josh Block, said in a statement.

“She expressed her support for the special friendship between the two democracies and said she would work to expand and deepen the strategic partnership between the U.S. and Israel.”

Block also praised the Democratic ticket.

“Now that both the Democrats and the Republicans have determined their respective tickets, AIPAC is pleased that both parties have selected four pro-Israel candidates,” he said. “In so doing, they have reaffirmed the broad bipartisan support that exists in our country for a strong U.S.-Israel relationship.”

What we need from candidates are action, not testimonials from Jewish friends

For those who thought that the discovery several years ago of the fact that Hillary Clinton had a step-grandfather who was Jewish (yes, her grandmother’s second husband) was the low point in the history of attempts to influence the Jewish vote, there is good news. The Republicans have gone their Democratic rivals one better while introducing vice-presidential pick Sarah Palin to the public.

Palin does not have a long history of stands on Jewish issues. Why should she? Neither the town of Wasilla, Alaska, nor the 49th state where she has served as governor for the last two years have large Jewish populations or much of a foreign policy.

A Little Flag

But Gov. Palin does have a little Israeli flag in her office. Or at least did last winter.

I know that because in an e-mail forwarded around the world, Jewish Republicans were quick to point to the flag as a sign of her interest in the Jewish state.

you can be sure her only interest is in the rapture nonsense...i am going to guess she could care less about the Jewish people

Alaska has a Jewish community? Who knew? wink.gif

Seriously, the Hagee stuff didn't stick until someone dug up the 10-year-old tape of the bizarre "Hitler was a hunter sent by God to move the Jews to Israel". I think this has the potential to sink her, since it was within the last couple of months and there is evidence that Palin was there.

Well then it's settled, the little Israeli flag sealed her support for Israel and its people. rolleyes.gif Oh the power of AIPAC. Their word is as good as gold. sarcasm.gif

There's even a rumor that Palin has a "Jewish problem," so Huffington Post's Sam Stein and I headed over to a "Salute to GOP Governors" sponsored by the Republican Jewish Coalition this afternoon at the swanky Walker Art Center.

Palin's record on Israel seems to consist of a tiny Israeli flag hung in her office. She's never visited the country, or even had a passport until last year. Ben Smith of the Politico reported that "her Alaska Jewish allies I spoke to had no recollection of discussing the issue with her in detail. Meanwhile, two Jewish Obama fundraisers have told me since the Palin pick that they've seen Jewish donors moving to Obama." Her issues page lists nothing on foreign policy, nor Israel.

Yet the flag story seems to have taken on almost mythical significance among Jewish Republicans, in the same way that right-wing operatives spread emails that Obama didn't recite the pledge of allegiance or wear an American flag lapel pin. "In her office you know what flag she had in addition to the flags of Alaska and the United States of America?" right-wing talk show host Dennis Prager asked rhetorically.

"Israel!" members of the RJC crowd yelled out.

"That's right," Prager responded. "It was the flag of Israel!"

Palin at AIPAC: That Didn’t Take Long

MSNBC and the Jewish Telegraphic Agency (JTA) are reporting that Gov. Palin met this afternoon with the board of directors of the America Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and Sen. Joe Lieberman to, in the words of one McCain campaign official cited by MSNBC, put “the American Jewish community at ease over her understanding of US-Middle East relations.” It’s worth noting that Palin, who has obviously been completely off-limits to reporters since she was rolled out as McCain’s running-mate in Dayton Friday, stiffed a reception in her honor sponsored by none other than Phyllis Schlafly a couple hours later. (One wonders what other lobbies have tried to arrange a meeting with Palin in the last 96 hours and with what success.)

“We had a good productive discussion on the importance of the U.S.-Israel relationship, and we were pleased that Gov. Palin expressed her deep, personal, and lifelong commitment to the safety and well-being of Israel,” AIPAC spokesman Josh Block said after the meeting. “Like Sen. McCain, the vice presidential nominee understands and believes in the special friendship between the two democracies and would work to expand and deepen the strategic partnership in a McCain/Palin Administration.”

“She was extremely well received,” McCain campaign spokesman Michael Goldfarb said, noting that Palin was interrupted by applause twice,” according to the JTA account. He added that Palin spoke about “the relationship between Israel and American national security, and the threats to Israel from Iran and others.”

Evidence of nervousness in the McCain campaign about Palin’s impact on Jewish voters and donors was made clear when the Likudist Republican Jewish Coalition circulated a video of her Alaska office in which it found a small Israeli flag, in the words of Politico, “poking out from behind a drape.”

“I think it speaks volumes that she keeps an Israeli flag on the wall of her office,” RJC’s executive director, Matt Brooks, told Politico in an e-mail. “It clearly shows what’s in her heart.” Politico’s analysis is well worth reading. As I noted Friday, a Nexis search of the two years previous to her selection as McCain’s running-mate failed to find a single published article in which Palin ever mentioned Israel. I suspect it may make it into her acceptance speech Wednesday night.

What is it "that didn't take long"? Is it improper/inappropriate/unusual/nefarious/name your adjective for a candidate to meet with an interest group for a constituency they'd like support from?
