Most of the voters for whom this would be a deal-breaker are Republicans, and they seem to have the blinders firmly affixed.
While I personally find this repugnant, I suspect it won't sway many who haven't already decided there's no chance in hell they'll vote for McCain. Even if a majority are appalled by it - of which I'm not at all sure - I don't think it will resonate with the undecided and/or independents.

Just what Karl Rove wanted, to make this election about race. The problem is this will definately turn off Mexicans and many moderate whites/Independents.
The lick was adorable. And as an african-american, I'm not afraid to say that aren't we all (in one form or another and to varying degrees). I mean Americans. I seriously doubt that the royalty, even the African royalty, ever had to get on the boat. That leaves us with only native American exceptions. Not a large voting block.

The RNC wants nothing more than for their candidates to be labeled as white trash or trailer park trash. Such labels may be seen as a pejorative by many, but there is another large segment of the population which see it as a badge of honor.
Each time someone refers to republicans as "white trash," essentially what they are doing is telling a segment of rural voters that republicans are like you and they share your interests and values. Of course this is far from reality, but it is what allows Reagan to portray himself as a cowboy and Bush as someone who you would like to have a beer with, and Palin as a suburban hockey mom trying to make ends meet. It is also what allows Republicans to portray Democrats as elitists election after election.
Oftentimes democrats wonder why individuals vote against their best interests. This is one of the reasons why.

Wow, one DUI 22 years ago is now a long tail of DUI's and a alcohlic. So would that make little o a coke head and a drug addict, It was about 20 or so years ago that he was doing coke. Do the same standards apply to Little o that apply to Palin?
