What the hell did W. mean by "misunderestimate" anyway? Regardless, stupid comments like "misunderestimate" caused us to underestimate him. As a result, over the past 8 years we watched in agony as W. has kicked the butt of Democratic Party leaders (who unfortunately reprsesent those of us in the progressive movement b/c we've got nothin' else in a two party system) on just about every front. In the end, our country was the biggest looser, not progressives and certainly not W. We seem to be doing the same thing again, i.e., "misunderestimating" our opponent, except this time the brunt of our jokes is no idiot.
Randi commented yesterday that Sarah Palin was a light weight that was chosen b/c the big bad good old boys can control her; you know, a female version of W. Well she and we and they had better think again. They opened the door and she just took over the Republican party. Fact is, she is more likely to be running a senile John McCain and the rest of those stiffs (did you see her competition for control of that party last night?) day one. And this means that the Christian conservatives who have been a useful tool and the brunt of a lot of jokes among Republican leadership over the last 30 years have finally taken over that party. Democrats had better take Palin seriously, strap it on, and prepare to fight her down in the place where the average Joes live or we will be spending another 12 years or more complaining about how we lost, but we really won.

It is inconceivable that in an honest election, we would have 51% (varies depending on how man are on the ballot) of the American people making this statement:
"Yes, I Would Prefer To Have Sarah Palin's Experience & Judgment, When It Comes To Foreign Policy, War, The Finger On The Button, Than Joe Biden's"
therefore, unless the republicans steal the election, again, or swiftboat obama with lies, like they did with kerry...they cant win
regardless of how, if they do take the White House? If McCain and Palin take the White House, then this country got what it deserved and the end result will be so disastrous that there wont be any point to ever vote again...

What is honest on belittling the work Obama did for his community? Is helping the people in need a bad thing now days? Is the Constitution a bad thing now days? Do I need a corporation to get representation now days? They the repugs showed their true colors, they represent money and power. We The People are history, we are all potential terrorists and will be treated and tried as such.

Barack/Biden will NOT win this election with 51% of the vote. We need 56% to 58% to win this. That's Karl Rove's math and he's very good at it. In the end, Democratic leaders and progressives don't need to be winning about what our country deserves for electing Republicans, they, we, need to get in their and fight for our country, challenge them on every vote they attempt to discard and learn to make our case effectively.

i assume you meant to say
I am whining...not winning
pretty arrogant and presumptuous of you to say that to someone you know absolutely nothing about...for all you know I have been engaged in the political process, personally and financially, in a major way for many many years...
for all you know maybe my family sacrificed, I sacrificed, for a needless war built on lies and that experience has made me bitter and angry as hell about a lot of things...for all you know, that is...

They opened the door and she just took over the Republican party.
Respectfully, do you really believe that what she did last night was HER doing? Do you believe that SHE wrote that speech?
There was no door that opened, and no transfer of power. What they did was open the window shades, and show you what they wanted you to see. The "Behind the Scenes" people who have controlled this party are still pulling the strings. Again, with no disrespect to you, I think they may have fooled you into thinking that SHE is a powerful person. Make no mistake. She's being used to try to control the message of "Change". Please don't let it work on you.

Karl Rove said that Palin was the mayor of "I think, the second largest town in Alaska."
I would question his ability with numbers at this point. Also, remember that the election is not about percentages. It's the EC that counts here, not the popular vote.

yes. she is being used. but she is also doing some using. further, the power of the poeple can be intoxicating. and as far as the republican party is concerned, she has that. the traditional powers of that party have nothing. . . really. . . i mean, they were pushing mit "the stiff" romney. finally, i think you should take a look at the letter randi read on the air yesterday about sweet little sarah. randi probably posted it.

did anyone challenge him on it, on the air? rove doesn't care what the real numbers are. he only wants us to accept his. in most instances the vast majority of americans do.

The only thing SOME "misunderestimated" about Dubya, was just how fucking corrupt he is.
People were ABSOLUTELY CORRECT to characterize him as a dumbass, and he's done nothing since to disprove that assessment.
Similarly, all the negative assertions about Palin are ALSO correct, and she is similarly a dumbass.
But such a thing as level of intellect is wholly seperate from just how low, and scuzzy one might be, or how far they are willing to go to get or hold on to power.
NOBODY here or in the entire Democratic Party has any illlusions about just how low, how evil, how slimy, how pathetically self-serving either Grandpy McSame or Caribou Barbie are.
We are well aware that there is no level below which these people will not stoop.
