i was watching CNN last night when Sarah was introducing her family. When she got to Track, she said he was deploying to Iraq next week. The kid then leaned over and said to his sister (I think i don't read lips)

"ya like i want to go"

Someone who can read lips should watch the CNN coverage and see what they think

It's a Pacific Northwest accent. She was born in Idaho. Similar in some ways to the northern midwest accent but with a lot less tonality. Very annoying. lol

Politics aside, hearing someone with a horribly annoying New York accent mimic someone with a horribly annoying Northwest accent is just annoying.

I think Randi was initially adding some southern drawl. However, she has gotten rid of a lot of that and is in the process of perfecting it. There is the temptation to through in the southern drawl because of Palin's pentecostal background. An Alaska accent is part Minnesota, part Canada, with a heavy influence of the Dakotas with a normalizing dose of the Pacific Northwest. Of the lower 48s I think I hear a tamed out Minnesota the most though.

No, I would not say it is a Northwest accent strictly speaking. People from the Northwest don't stay in Alaska that long. It is too easy to go back home.

We all know women with that voice...and I, for one, try to avoid them like the plague.

Not trolling...has nothing to do with politics. It's just that hearing one annoying accent trying to do an impression of another annoying accent is, well...doubly annoying. (If it's a surprise to you that some people find a heavy Brooklyn accent to be just a tad bit grating, I'm sorry.)

As you pointed out, Palin's own shrieking goes through you like a knife. Hearing a New Yawker trying to do her version of a shrieker's shrieking only makes it worse. That's when I reach over and change the station.

You should be sorry. I for one LOVE Randi's accent. And it's not just an accent that makes a person's voice "grating." It's how an individual uses their voice, accent and all. Palin's accent is difficult for people from other parts of the country because it's totally flat...there's little or no change of pitch--just volume. I live in the PNW, so I grew up with it.

You should hear my Sarah Palin imitation. Brotherdavid knows...
