I've got the Joe's Garage CD, 200 Motels and a bunch of stuff I down loaded. I never got the chance to see him in person, but he was a great one.

Remember this one? LOL

No. If it was in the 70's, there's a reason I don't remember. A friend turned me on to "Live at the Fillmore East" and I was hooked. At one point b4 the divorce, I had all of his albums up to "Bongo Fury". And that was the last time I saw him. Cincinnati Gardens w/ Captain Beefheart.

Really. That's wild.

Loved that album. Loved the "comedy music" thing. And the more I got into it I realized how good he was. My favs were "Roxy and Elsewhere" and "Hot Rats".

QUOTE
You went out to pack your trip bag,
To ease on in to hip bag,
But you just ain't exactly sure what's hip.
Started to let your hair grow,
Spent big bucks copping a wardrobe,
Somehow, you know there's much more to the Trip.

What is Hip?
Tell me, tell me if you think you know.
What is Hip?
If you're really Hip, the passing years will show.
Doing the Hip Trip,
Hipper than Hip,
What is Hip?

I used to rent a place in Humboldt County from Art Tripp...one of his drummers who went on to Captain Beefheart...I remember him teeing off frogs with a golf club in his hands and a flashlight in his mouth in the middle of the night...I guess they bugged him...he was a creep on so many levels.

A grizzly scene on my electron beam
told a story about human rights
so all the kings horses
and all the kings men had a riot
for two days and nights
well, the city exploded
but the gates wouldn't open
so the company asked him to quit
now everybody's equal
just don't measure it

Well hanson did it to hester
and mark david did it to john
and maybe jack did it to marilyn
but he did it to south vietnam
for beauty and glory
for money, love, and country
everybody's doing it,
don't do that to me

A bitter debate and a feminine fate
lie in tandem like two precious babes
while the former gets warmer
it's the latter that matters
except on the nation's airwaves
and custodians of public opinion
stayed back after vainly discussing her rights
lay hands off her body
it's not your fucking life!

Now I don't know what stopped
Jesus Christ from turning
every hungry stone into bread
and I don't remember hearing how Moses
reacted when the innocent first born sons lay dead
well I guess God was a lot more demonstrative back when
he flamboyantly parted the sea,
now everybody's praying,
don't pray on me

bad religion,
don't pray on me
not the best quality, but ya get the idea.
