The Republicans are going to get a big bounce. It could turn into a roll. As it turns out, Palin is NOT the total blithering idiot we hoped she'd turn out to be.

If Obama doesn't get on the ball immediately to counter the new Palin energy and hoard of inspired conservative get-out-the-vote activists and volunteers, we could easily lose this thing.

Imagine that for a minute.

No one is any where near as good at b.s. and cheating and vote stealing than the neoconservatives, who have made an art form out of it.

All I can say is every single one of us is going to have to WORK to make this happen. I mean volunteer big time for Obama. No just sitting around on the RRMB pressing keys and hoping it'll all turn out. It won't ... unless we all get on the phones, knock on doors, register voters, give more money than we can comfortably afford, and, most importantly, get our friends and family to do the same thing.

New CBS poll shows McCain and Obama tied. First poll to include Palin's speech (though only on the last day of the poll, i.e. it could get much worse):

Here's an example of what each of us can do:

Of course, he'll get a bounce. There is always a bounce immediately after a convention. The only real question is how much and for how long.

And this time, the corporate media will be damned sure that it equals or exceeds Obama's because their revenues from campaign ads depends on a close election. Simply put, they have a financial interest in ensuring that the polls stay close. I also noticed that (at least according to CNN) the official story is that the same number of Americans watched Obama's speech and the she-beast's. My guess, is that tomorrow they'll claim that even more people watched McCain than Obama.... again, to support the claim that McCain will have a huge "bounce" in the polls and to again "prove" how close the race is.

The media and the Republicans also have to be sure that we buy into the idea of a "close" race so that they can pull off another 51/49 surprise election result in favor of the Republicans.

I remember hearing that right after the 1984 Democratic National Convention, Walter Mondale and Geraldine Ferraro were tied with Ronald Reagan. blink.gif

No complacency. No despondency. Upset about Republican policies that have enriched the few, short-changed the many, and placed our precious children's future at great risk? Take positive action in concert with good people everywhere. Be kind, but, as they say, Let it all hang out!

I question whether McCain will get a bounce after that dull, uninspiring, devoid of meaning speech he gave last night.

The protesters who waved "McCain Votes Against Vets" signs and T shirts should receive more of our attention. The protester who unfurled the sign saying "YOU CAN'T WIN AN OCCUPATION" should be feted as a patriotic hero. Who was that?

And in which direction.

Lastest projected electoral votes well into the GOP convention: Obama at 301 with a 76 point lead.

I have little trust in the MSM polls because they just might be skewed wrongly.

Skewed lower to encourage lots of ad buys to increase their revenue.

Right, they are not weighing them correctly.

Here's another: http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/ showing E.C. 310-227.

Regarding "National Polls" --- these are bought and paid for (like everything else in MediaCorpse) to sell the ludicrous notion that there is more than one viable candidate in this race. Don't believe everything you read.

Anyone planning to volunteer to be "boots on the ground" for Obama during the critical last 60 days? Phone calling? Voter registration? Door bell ringing? Independent fund raising?

With all the conservative energy Palin has indisputably created on the far right, combined with the likelihood of election fraud in key states (the kind that brought us the "loser take all" results we got in the last two elections) I believe strongly that we'll lose if a LOT more of us on this forum and elsewhere on the left don't step right up and increase our commitment to this and put some hours into the actual campaign effort.
