So that green screen behind McCain last night? Randi wasn't the only one who said WTF when they saw it. I did too.

But according to Talking Points Memo (www.talkingpointsmemo.com) if you panned back from the closeup of McCain with the green, the green was, in reality, the grass in front of a building that was supposed to be Walter Reed Army Hospital. Only problem was, it wasn't the hospital, it was Walter Reed Middle School in North Hollywood in California!

Apparently, the Republi-geeks who were tasked with putting a photo of Walter Reed in the slide show screwed up and when they googled found the school instead. Now, perhaps they were not stupid, since the photo of Walter Reed Hospital shows the front of the building with Greek columns and those would have shown behind McCain. Kinda hard to claim Obama is arrogant by using columns and then putting columns behind your guy, but knowing that Republicans can be dumber than a bag of rocks, I'm thinking the Gooper Geeks were told to find a picture of "Walter Reed" and so just found any Walter Reed and inserted it.

If posting pix and links were easier here, I could show you. But you'll just have to head over to TPM yourself for a gander.
Link is here: http://talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/213806.php

TPM is updating along the way and apparently, the McCain Camp is scrambling for reasons why it happened, pointing fingers, etc.

Geez. If they can't get Walter Reed, the place where our soldiers and vets go for medical help, right, how the heck can we trust them to get anything right!

Mistakes like this are the reason I think that an Orwellian 1984 scenario will never happen. It takes more control than a Republitard can even imagine to implement an oligarchical government. Those who think they can run a flawless junta are in denial and living in fantasyland.

I sent Randi an e-mail about this about an hour ago. Hopefully she'll mention this on-air soon (if she hasn't already).

This is too funny! It just shows the great competence of the GOP.

Thanks! I want to believe that it is some person within the campaign that's trying to make McCain look stupid, but sadly they are just incompetent. Makes me shudder to think of this bunch running the country.

thank you so much. i just think the repugs are so puny minded that they had to cut down the Denver stages and how nice they looked.

better than the bare stark stage they had to stand on. i think they were jealous. and of course, they would never actually pay anyone decent wages to do it right, hence the mistake.....

freaks that they are.

And, apparently, the school ain't too happy...

"It has been brought to the school's attention that a picture of the front of our school, Walter Reed Middle School, was used as a backdrop at the Republican National Convention. Permission to use the front of our school for the Republican National Convention was not given by our school nor is the use of our school's picture an endorsement of any political party or view."

Incompetence does not matter to them. They do not consider it a fault. They don't care. They don't see anything they do as problematic. Since when has it been problematic for the GOP to commit adultery, unwed pg, lies, invasion of privacy (and countries), hypocrisy, illegal firings, meanspirited ugly criticism, racism, sexism, all of it?

What's a photograph?

This is the harmless end of republicken hackocracy. The other end of it was the response to Hurricane Katrina.

I thought that screen was horrible to begin with.

When the camera focused on the speaker, all you could see was a flat color in the background. It looked horrible
