IMO, dogmatic faith (certain "knowledge" of the metaphysical) is built on the same epistemological foundation as bigotry.
The underlying epistemology is absolutist and supremacist: I am correct, they are wrong. God is on my side; they are of the devil. I don't need to learn; I already have the truth. I am better than they. That epistemological orientation underpins the dangerous fundamentalism that threatens the world today, and it also underpins bigotry: racism, sexism, classism, etc.
The alternative epistemological orientation is more relativistic. I think I know. I'll test what I think I know continuously. God (!?) approves of learning. Each of us has a small time on this big earth. I'll share what I think I know. I'll be open when someone else does the same. I may approach perfect knowledge, but I'll never reach it. We may all have different trajectories but we have the same value.
The Dark Ages Revisited!
This is why our government was setup the way it was. We need it back! There are religions which more more in tune with the latter - ecumenical movement, Baha'i to a degree, Universal Unitarianism, Buddhism. And it is difficult to be bigotted if one really believes the latter.
