Oops. Guess it wasn't those fluffy 20-somethings in the hippie house starting some shit, it was these two Republican asshats:

QUOTE
Two Texas men who authorities say planned to target law enforcement during the Republican National Convention face federal charges of illegally possessing Molotov cocktails.

David Guy McKay, 22, and Bradley Neil Crowder, 23, both of Austin, are each charged with one count of possession of firearms that were not registered to them.

....

According to the criminal complaint, law enforcement officers overheard a conversation through electronic surveillance in which McKay said the Molotov cocktails he and Crowder made would be thrown at vehicles parked in a St. Paul lot. The lot was used by law enforcement, and patrolled by U.S. Secret Service and the military.

"It's worth it if an officer gets burned or maimed," McKay was heard saying, according to federal authorities.

....

Authorities say members of the group traveled from Austin to Minnesota on Aug. 28, pulling a rental trailer that contained 35 "shields" crafted from stolen traffic barrels. The shields, confiscated by authorities, were outfitted with protruding screws and were meant to be used as "offensive weapons," officials said.

I must be blind. I can't see anywhere that it says that they were Republicans.

Try the link, it expands on the story. I could be lying, though.

I googled it and there's just not any info on this "Austin Affinity Group".

If I had to guess though, I'd say they were some kind of RW militia type thingo...

Hmmm...

Austin...

Isn't that Alex Jones HQ?

It was happening to me quite a bit there for a while.

It's been OK the last week or so.

Said a couple of Texas papers: Austin Affinity Group is anarchist in nature . . . going back to the turn on the 20th century and is also suspected in the fire at the Guv's house? Dunno. Think there is a lot of weirdness in Texas.

While not overly fond of police, they are a necessary evil. Just wish they'd stop with the profiling already. Last year, the Oregonian ran a break down of the number of traffic stops that ended with felony drug charges against the driver: a goodly (close to or above 60%) number of white drivers were found either to be DUII or had felony amounts of illicit drugs. The number of felony drug charges against black/African American? A mere fraction.

But, to plot attacks on cops? This goes a bit far afield even for anarchists . . .
