And my mother, well, I'm just glad she died in 2002, so she didn't have to see what's become of the country she naturalized to.

The words she's using incorrectly are in, "no one knows what war is like other than my family, period"

I suspect she is TRYING to say, "No one knows about the impacts of war better than my family," which at least allows other families to know as well. But she's an inarticulate twit.

But worse than all that, the point of the discussion was Obama's statement that McCain "doesn't get it." It was not a reference to what McCain knows or doesn't know - and he's applied the "doesn't get it" to McCain with regard to the economy, jobs and so mych more.

Of COURSE McCain knows - or at least has been told at some point or another - about soldiers coming home and finding not only hellish services, but efforts by the military to reduce what little is available by gaming the rules. He knows or has been told the unemployment rate. He knows or has at some point been told about rising prices and reduced incomes.

What he "doesn't get" is how those impact average families. He certainly has no direct experience - or does anyone imagine a son of McCain's has a lot of trouble getting health care from the VA? He "doesn't get" how people have to change their lives and their plans premised on the price of a gallon of gas. McCain doesn't get anything that's important to most voters.

Some sergeant who served in Vietnam called in to one of the looney shows on rightwing radio here in L.A. and about tore the host's head off talking about that incident, so I went and looked it up. Holy fuck, McCain was an absolute walking disaster!

McCain, being a cocky bastard who thought it'd be fun to fuck around and play games with millions of dollars or taxpayers money and a buttload of deadly weaponry -- wet started his engine (which sends a burst of flames shooting out the back of the jet) and startling the pilot in line behind him who, when he flinched involuntarily, released one of his missiles on accident, and then McCain like a dumbass compounded the fuck-up by dropping two bombs of his own, and getting even more people killed on the deck.

They had to hustle "hero boy" off the ship and onto medical transport pronto, not because he was injured, but for his own protection from the other men onboard who likely would have beat the shit out of him in his bunk that night.

I saw a McCain biography, where a (either McCain or) McCain's spokesman said he was too busy reading Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire to study the aircraft manuals which said where the eject lever was. Ha ha.
