While there’s all this distraction regarding Sarah Palin, it might be worthwhile to lower our pail down the memory hole and remember just how often Joe Biden has stood up to this president. From the New York Times Magazine, October 17, 2004:

Forty democratic senators were gathered for a lunch in March [2004] just off the Senate floor. I was there as a guest speaker. Joe Biden was telling a story, a story about the president. ”I was in the Oval Office a few months after we swept into Baghdad,” he began, ”and I was telling the president of my many concerns” — concerns about growing problems winning the peace, the explosive mix of Shiite and Sunni, the disbanding of the Iraqi Army and problems securing the oil fields. Bush, Biden recalled, just looked at him, unflappably sure that the United States was on the right course and that all was well. ”’Mr. President,’ I finally said, ‘How can you be so sure when you know you don’t know the facts?”’

Biden said that Bush stood up and put his hand on the senator’s shoulder. ”My instincts,” he said. ”My instincts.”

Biden paused and shook his head, recalling it all as the room grew quiet. ”I said, ‘Mr. President, your instincts aren’t good enough!”’

Another interesting story from picture framing. A customer came into our shop and said she wanted a frame for a picture of "our Lord" that she wanted to frame. She scanned the various moulding samples on the wall and selected one, then asked how much it would be. The framer who was helping her replied that she would be able to tell her once she had seen the print, since all framing was sold by the foot and an accurate size would be needed for an estimate. The customer refused, stating that the picture was far too precious to leave the house unprotected. So the framer asked her if she could measure it and bring or call in the size to the shop at which time it could be priced, but warned her that if ordered to an inaccurate size no refund would be available if it did not fit. The customer fell to her knees in prayer and rose again a short time later with a size readily available. She assured the framer that The Lord Himself had given her the information and there was not a worry in her mind that it could be innacurate. Try as she might the framer could not convince the customer to verify the size, but did eventually get her to agree that buying uncut moulding and having a friend do the work of cutting it to size might be a better idea. So the lady ordered 2 12' sticks of moulding and waited to be called when they were in. When they did arrive she came in to pick them up, but almost wound up stranded since the cab she had called and asked to wait outside was unaware of the nature of her purchase or how it would fit into his yellow sedan.

Just goes to show that some people are so far gone into their illusion that they can't be helped.

Fellixe--SO funny and spot on. I had a friend who almost got into a car accident, but stopped in time so as no to be T-Boned. SHe went on and on about how her faith protected her and God is watching out for her. I kinda rolled my eyes and siad ok, to each his own. The next week she totaled her car by driving off a gravel road and hitting a phone pole. She was not hurt too bad, but I just had to ask her ---Did she go to church that past Sunday? No, she said she was hung over. I laughed, I guess God doesn't want you to drive drunk either, or to have a good time on a friday. She blamed her cell phone, it was ringing in her purse and it distracted her. I said just because it's ringing, doesn't mean you have to answer it, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't God calling!!!

As an atheist, I kinda chuckle.

CNN is going to air "Joe Biden Revealed" this weekend. What is there to reveal about Joe? We already know he'll be a great vice president.

I think it would be an interesting group challenge to see if we can come up with a list of things the President hasn't screwed up......

1. The white house hasn't crumbled to the ground yet.
