Some of you are filled with too much Doom and Gloom. Some think that Obama will lose because McCain picked a beauty queen for VP.
Compare and contrast Palin with Bush-the similarities are the same. Low executive experience, low expectations, both full of shit, both big deficit people.

I for one am sick and tired of all this propaganda being posted. I don't think the Obama campaign is about to let those Rovian bastards win. Have faith...it will all start coming together very soon I think!

Right on, they are gonna burn themselves down while we watch. Oh and my hand is busted, so that's whats wrong with me.

Here's the problem, with the 2004 Kerry campaign as a reminder. Too Little, too late, can be a campaign killer.

Hopefully, they have not waited too long to release the 527s. I for one have been advocating it for a long time, and unfortunately, to the chagrin of some of the members in here that think that Obama can win on the issues. He can not. The republicans wont let it happen that way, and they are good at what they do.

Until dems learn to fight fire with fire, slime with slime, 2008 will just be a repetition of 2000 and 2004.

Do I like it that way? Hell no, but its the only way to win in the world we live in.

I don't think Obama will lose because of the Beauty Queen.

I think he will lose because of things that none of us can control.

Rove and his bosses are not leaving the campaign to chance.

It's a done deal. Always was.

Up until McCain's campaign jumped the shark, I thought that we actually had a chance.

The fact that the people in control went this route, for the reasons they did makes it pretty darn clear who is in charge.

and it ain't us.

I am holding off the doom and gloom, but recently experienced a severe episode of cognitive dissonance while hearing McCain rail about CEOs profiting from the FannieMae/FreddieMac debacle. HOW is this devastating result of deregulation and privatization DIFFERENT from the Keating 5 and the S&L disaster in which McCain was up to his ears (and for which taxpayers ALSO picked up the tab)? Privatize the profit and socialize the loss. Same old. Same old. Pardon me while I go off and try to hold two opposing views simultaneously and not die of cognitive dissonance. wacko.gif

NEM you remember that Kerry built the whole campaign around his Vietnam experience. He surrounded himself with campaign managers whose spines might have been stolen by aliens or whatever. Mary Beth Cahill managed a muted campaign along with Bob Schrum, a guy who lost eight straight campaigns. Remember how week Kerry fought back. Nothing like the Obama campaign.
Have faith. The American people will come together I believe.

Reality tells us that the trend is going strongly in the WRONG direction, and if it continues that way, we WILL wake up one morning early next year to see President McCain (Palin?) on T.V.

Are you doing anything to support Obama's campaign besides posting your thoughts here?

I hope so.

If not, will you commit to giving your time to the Obama campaign? Make calls? Register voters? Raise money from family and friends?

If not, will you make the largest possible financial donation you possibly can? If not, will you at least go to your local Democratic Party office and get signs and bumper stickers for all your cars?

If not, in my opinion, you're very, very serious part of a very, very serious problem: liberal lazyness showing up as the lack of sufficient actual, real commitment to save the country.

Conservatives aren't lazy. They get out there and volunteer in droves. Not liberals. We complain a LOT. But we stay disorganized for longer, and it takes more to get liberals (on average) to actually get up off the couch and WORK.

Given the reality of the current downward trend we REALLY do need to get ourselves in gear ... NOW.

For instance ... I'm an independent Obama Campaign fundraiser, and you can be too!

I write a blog and send out action and info alerts to my email circle of about 300 names (save all those liberal organization email addresses from the messages you get all day long, etc.!). You can too!

There's a TON of things we could do. The way things are now going, we NEED to do them. It's no longer an option. It's now very much a necessity ... unless we want to hand the keys to the White House to McCain (and later ... OMG ... Palin?). Call the number in bold, below, to put your own time and energy where your mouth is.

Please, to quote Dennis Kucinich:

WAKE UP (LIBERAL) AMERICA!!!

Reality is we're going down. Doesn't mean we'll lose ... it means we will likely lose IF we keep doing what we're doing now. We need to get in gear, each of us, all of us, right now (or sooner, if possible).

The house is burning, people. Denial won't help, it'll only let the fire destroy more of the house. We need hoses, water, and people to put out the blaze.

My queries on this board indicate (by the dearth of affirmative comments indicating active participation in the Obama Campaign) that only a SHAMEFULLY small percentage of people on this board are doing anything substantial to help Obama win other than sing his praises.

Please, don't just write posts ... step up and make the Obama victory actually happen.

Please, don't just sit there reading this ... DO IT!

Thank you.

This might seem silly, but how do I get an Obama sign or many, for my place. Granted we live in the middle of nowhere, but I could place them out front to show my support, I just don't know how to get them. I doubt they'll last a week, but hey, it's worth a try.

Rush Limbouchery said Obama lost his aura since the Republican Conv. BOUNCE. The halo is gone . . . now.

Omg yeah, Rusho, yes, I only loved Obama for his aura and halo and oh, I guess no more parting of the waters.

We are winning. We already know the polls are pushed for many, many reasons. I have them on ignore.

I remembered today, was I as excited about John Kerry? No. This is different and the country is different.

I hate comparisons being made to Obama's campagin all the time.

There are no comparisons. This is new and that won't be stopped.

Here is whom the Repufascists can't touch: The tens of millions of young voters under the age of 30. These are "kids" going to work, school and struggling who are out there. They aren't being contacted by 20th Century pollsters and will never be. But, they are voting for Obama.

They don't talk about this at the water cooler at your jobs, because, that's not were young people discuss important topics. They do it on-line, via their iPhones and Blackberry's, etc. This election is not going to be decided by us middle aged farts. It is going to be decided by the youth of this country. Support them and have some faith in them. You might not "get them" but they get the issues.

This is an emergency. Stay asleep, and it's over.

Our guy is going down. And HE WILL LOSE, given the observable reality (polls, and even Intrade, now favoring McCain for the FIRST TIME), if we don't get our lazy liberal butts in gear and do a heck of a lot more than write posts about how bad the Republicans are.

It is called Progressive Bitchazziness. It is a lot more fun to ignore the electoral college which is how we elect Presidents and instead focus on the daily polls which vary widely, are consistently wrong, and change by the second.

The one way Presidents are elected is the one thing most ignored on this board. Ask Gore if winning the popular vote will get you the election.

While I get angry at some of the passivity I have seen on the part of Democrats the numbers are the numbers.

Here is my OPINION of why a bunch a idiots think that Obama will lose to Palin and McCain.

Some Dems believe that putting Palin in was a good move, because it will split the party....wait what party the democratic party????

First, the repubs are the one who are split over Palin. Those right wing religious preachers were preaching so much anti-woman stuff in the pulpits that I'm not surprised that the divorce rate didn't go up...but white church women take that shit...any ways... the repubs really don't know their asshole from a hole in the ground. They will more than likely not vote, or vote Bob Barr than to have a female.

On the other hand, the dems, who are cool with chicks, had their minds blew when McWahts-his-face chose a female as a vice, because psycologically we can "seei t" or handle the thought process that it takes to comprehend the idea of a female VP; a trait that repubs DO NOT posses.

Therfore, the dems got a litttttttle shakey when a woman took the stand. We know the anguish we went through with Hillary and Obama, and now we feel those same ole feelings all over again.... but REMEMBER. We are NOT LIKE THEM!

They are not like us.

They have been discombobulated to the core and we have been shaken with Hillary vs Obama Post Tramatic STress Disorder.

So.... WAKE THE FUCK UP, BIOTCHES!!!!

Get over IT!

Get in GEAR and MOVE OUT on to the Campaign trail... or send money.

This is our Election to win and by golly gee wally we're gonna win it!

I don't have much time or resources, but I see a lot of people everyday. So I talk to them. I insert politics into conversations with customers as often as I can. Three young guys were at the bar the other day, and they started talking the election. One guy said, "I'm not voting, because this is California, and it's going to go to Obama, anyway." That's all I needed. I asked him how he thought (ultra-conservative) Orange County was going to vote. I told him his vote was like his "manhood." If you don't use it, sure as hell, you're going to lose it. I do what I can, and I have hope still, even though my head wants to explode.

If the unthinkable happens, I will not run to New Zealand or wherever. I'll stick it out and fight. And I'm sure I'll find guys like RandiLover and Ishmael at my back, because I'll have theirs.

I received this email from bravenewfilms.com snd I will share it with you:

The Real McCain 2 reached an astonishing 4 million views last week, just as the McCain campaign was trotting out lie after lie at the Republican National Convention. Coincidence? We don't think so. To us, this unprecedented number suggests that the public is desperately seeking the truth about John McCain -- a truth the corporate press still isn't providing.

We're hearing reports of a lot of hand-wringing from people who are scared and don't know what to do. So we came up with a way to put that nervous energy to good use! Join the McCain Truth Squad and a couple of times a week we will send you McCain videos for you to forward on with a personal note to your friends, colleagues and family members.

Join the McCain Truth Squad: http://therealmccain.com/squad?utm_source=rgemail

To get you started, below are five videos that present the Real McCain: an elitist out of touch with hard-working Americans; a double talker who supports a costly war in Iraq but won't support our veterans. Forward this email on. This is the McCain everyone should know.

1. The Real McCain 2: Watch as McCain's YouTube problem became his nightmare in the video that received over 4 million views.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEtZlR3zp4c

2. Less Jobs. More Wars: What is this 'Iraq war' charge on my bill?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lh-T2iGkLJY

3. John McCain vs. John McCain: Tell McCain to get off the Double Talk Express.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ioy90nF2anI

4. McCain's Spiritual Guide: The video that caused McCain to renounce Rev. Rod Parsley's bigoted endorsement.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXZbIGJrDkg

5. Why Won't McCain Sign the GI Bill? Presenting the most blatant hypocrisy of the McCain campaign.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pK_9sI7hzAc

Imagine how differently people would regard McCain if they saw all five of these videos and learned the truth. That's why we want you to forward this e-mail to everyone and anyone with a personal note at the top from you. Why send these videos individually when you can send them all at once? Also, get them on all the blogs and traditional news sites you can. Make sure you're doing everything you can to educate the public about the Real McCain.

Yours,
Robert Greenwald
and the Brave New team

Stop running around scared of stupid Rove and now Stupid Sarah. They fear US.

They are DEATHLY afraid of us. That is WHY they act like this in the first place.

The 2006 mid-term election was a watershed moment. The negative attack ads that have become a republican staple surprisingly didn't work. Despite the republican mantra that terrorists would win if Democrats were elected, and the promise that the country would be in a shambles with a Nancy Pelosi congress, the country voted overwhelming for Democrats ensuring a Democratic majority.

Despite a long presidential campaign and our national reputation of having a short attention span, the public remains energized and is tuned-in to the issues, and this election is being followed very closely by every account. We have seen record turnouts in the Democratic primaries in state after state, with multitudes of new voters registering and as democrats. And we have witnessed record numbers in small donations to the Obama campaign.

In previous elections, the negative attacks and misleading ads that McCain is using would certainly have been effective, but not this time. Such ads rely heavily on an uninformed and uninspired public. Not only are McCain's negative ads proving to be ineffective, but the media throughout the country is increasingly calling McCain and Palin out for their outright lies. With each misleading statement about Barack Obama, McCain is damaging his own straight-talk brand. And as for Palin, The Atlanta Journal Constitution wrote, "her image is increasingly that of a guiltless liar". The negative campaign of McCain and Palin is more of a reflection on them, and that is a lasting impression.

In case you're interested, here is the link to the article from The Atlanta Journal Consitution, the only major daily newspaper in Atlanta, Georgia. Such stories and op-eds can be found in newspapers throughout the country. This is something that much of the media didn't do in the elections of 2000 and 2004. It's a good sign.

If Obama loses it will be the media's fault

If the Obama brain trust seems relatively serene compared with its seething base, it’s because they live in the Electoral College world, where the presidential race only takes place in a third of the country. They don’t care about national polls — a concept as quaint as measuring one’s wealth by caribou pelts. They worry about the undecided vote in Minnesota and Ohio and run their TV ads (about the economy) in places like Colorado and Michigan and Florida. If you live in California or New York or Texas, you don’t really have much of a feel for their level of effort because as far as they’re concerned, you’ve already voted.
...
One of the great things about this campaign is that both sides are convinced they’re going to lose. Remember how nuts all the Obama people went when Hillary refused to concede? How suicidal the Republicans were when Obama was knocking them dead in Europe while McCain was tooling around in a golf cart with the president’s father? We still have nearly two months to go. The people who haven’t decided who they want to vote for by now aren’t going to make up their minds until the last minute. Just chill for a few weeks until the debates start and let the Sarah Palin thing play itself out.

This.

In all things, approach the campaign with this philosophy and you will do great things.

Reality is a bitch. The Repugs are not in a position of strength, they are at a historic lowpoint. Everything that could possibly benefit a Dem has happened and still we have whingers here who aren't happy unless Obama has a 20 point lead and McCain was just caught fucking a chicken on the Senate floor.

Some things to get you off the roof:

1, The economy sucks, unemployment is up, houses have lost all their equity, the stock market has gone no where in 8 years.
2. Gas prices are out of control due to having Repugs in office. Oil is selling for 103 dollars a barrel. Know how much gas was selling for the last time oil was that price? 3.10 a gallon. Is that what you are paying now?
3. McCain hired a buffoon for Veep, the bump she temporarily gets now will slowly evolve into less sensational rationalization that this person has a fucking bachelors degree in journalism and is more qualified to be a weather forecaster than the president.
4. Obama is a smart fellow who toppled a political dynasty handily. He hasn't shown his hand yet but if you think he is going to be another Kerry you aren't the brightest lightbulb in the lampstore.
5. The campaign STARTED THIS WEEK wait for the fucking debates before you start worrying about polls.

Have a nice day. smile.gif

I will not stop my campaigning and I will not stop my focus on the election.

However, the fact is, we need to prepare ourselves mentally for the fix.

Just today in our local newspaper, a member of the editorial staff wrote about having received several "thank you" letters from some Kentucky Republicans running for local office for her "donations" and request for yard sign.

Only problem: she never donated any money to these gents. She called and was told the donation was "cash."

Sadly my husband and I, both registered Republicans, received a similar letter last week from Mitch McConnell's campaign. Problem? Neither of us donated to him.

Ditto for my daughter and her husband.

Oh, we DID donate to campaigns this year. To John Yarmuth and Obama.

In addition, there was a small piece in the paper about a "break in" at John Yarmuth's local campaign office. What was stolen? The computer "server" and a jump drive.

Shades of freaking Watergate!

So now we have an apparently HUGE donation laundering operation AND a theft of campaign data and private information.

In Kentucky.

Nixon was a piker compared to the New Republicans.

Winning "fairly" and with legitimate voice heard from the public isn't an option anymore.

I USED to trust our voting machines, too.

Now, however, to say I'm skeptical would be an understatement.

How can you "win" when you aren't playing by the same rules?

Two words:

Atticus Finch.

John Cusack said it best in todays A. Huff post:

QUOTE
"Finch had the riotous fire of all the great prophets in the Judeo-Christian tradition," John Cusack told me during our back-and-forth email conversation of the last few days. "He unleashes that fire in his final, great courtroom speech. If he didn't, if he refused to unleash his anger and contempt at the horror and immorality of racism, he would prove himself to be an unemotional man unworthy of our love and respect. Obama has waited long enough to show us this side of himself. Besides, we need to know that he can be a mean motherfucker if he wants this job."

Just.....wait for it.
