This poll is bull crap.

"Yes, he has crossed the line this time."
"No, this is just part of the rough and tumble of political campaigning"

Where is

"No, this is a made up bullcrap attack on an old cliche that had nothing to do with Palin personally."

Even the "neutral poll" is biased. I hate how the conservative media does this. They set up a straw man with a false assumption so that there's an attack on the Democratic side embedded in the question.

Or how about "No, this is a diversion by the Republican Party, making a cynical mockery of American democracy."

When McCain used the same exact phrase referring to Hillary's health care plan, noone said anything. When Obama says it, he's sexist
NoYards
The Republicans should read this book by a former McCain press secretary..

It clearly explains that the phrase is commony used to cut through political spin.

I love how he refused to apologize. lol

IMO I think what Palin said about being a pitbull lipstick was sexist. (and I'm female) It didn't sit right with me when I heard it and I don't understand y people were so happy about that stupid line. I know that what Obama said had nothing to do with Palin but I just wanted to say that.
SherriChardonnay
what about lipstick on a goat or a monkey....

i voted but i agree that its bs..there was no option for what he said was taken out of context and he was not talking about that bitch or they could Palin!

I'm sure Obama wishes he had that one back. Big waste of time. Should have thought that through a little better. Sure he was needleing her "hockey mom" reference (that's what I thought when he first said it) but he prolly thought he could get away with it...Oh well.

Listen, while you're giving yourself that colonoscopy, check the prostate, too. And make sure to close your eys as you pull out, because the bright light in the room will take some getting used to.

I think it would be a good idea for a lot of people to leave a comment saying how bullshit this poll is on MSNBC's website.

BTW, NPR today contacted a pig farmer in Virginia, who went out into the pen, while on the phone and on the air, and attempted to put lipstick on a pig. The pig ate most of the lipstick, and the farmer decided pigs don't really have lips anyway, most of the lipstick ends up on the nose. That's some quality journalism there.

What are you talking about? He wasn't even talking about Palin. What he was talking about was John McCain's economic policies. He said that they were more of the same (as Bush's), you can put lipstick on a pig but it's still a pig.

Gotta say, I'm not getting this one. I haven't been on the "She's so pretty" and "Hottest Governor" bandwagons. Pretty cute picture from high school, but that's about it. (Yes, I had a thing for Karen Valentine.)

I guess, when one considers the field of politicians, she's an upscale pole dancer. But I rarely look to the field of politics for anything like sex appeal. And if/when I do, it won't be to Palin. I just don't see any hotness factor.

How about:

"Obama's comments were taken completely out of context. He was talking about McCain's policies, NOT directly attacking Palin (like McCain DID do when he directly attacked Hillary with the same "lipstick on a pig" comment, earning McCain a free pass)."

I would have picked that choice.

It's becoming a joke and the Rethugs are starting to look like the idots they are for trying to make an issue of this. Now that Obama and Letterman have kicked it around for laughs on the TeeeVeeee I'm sure Middle America must be getting it.

It might be out of range for most under the bell curve, but I loved Obama's chess move on Letterman the other day. Here's the relevant part of the transcript:
QUOTE
Dave: "Now what I like about this scenario is because they demanded, the Republicans demanded an apology."

Obama: "Yes, they did."

Dave: "So that means there had been a meeting at some point somewhere along the line."

Obama: "All of them."

Dave: "Yeah, they got together and they said, 'You know what? He called our vice presidential candidate a pig.'" (audience laughs) "Well, that seems pretty unlikely, doesn't it?"

Obama: "It does. But keep in mind that, technically, had I meant it that way, she would have been the lipstick, you see?" (audience, Dave laugh) "But now we're..."

Dave: "I don't know, you're way ahead of me." (audience laughs)

Obama: "Yeah, the failed policies of John McCain would be the pig."

Obama originally used "lipstick on a pig" thus: lipstick (Palin's crafted persona, change theme) on a pig (GWB / Republican failures). No equating Palin to a pig.

Then the Republicans accused him of sexism. THEY introduced the thought that perhaps Palin was a pig. True sexism, but you have to forgive them, since they're Republicans and can't help it.

Then the quote by Obama, explaining that in the metaphor, Palin is the lipstick, embarrassing Republicans by exposing their own sexism. Such a gentlemanly repartee. laugh.gif

Man, it'd be so great to have YEARS of a President who could keep them in line like that, showing them for the sociopaths they are.

John McCain said the same thing about Hillary Clinton's health care plan and he was labelled as sexist.

WHY?
