An Anchorage judge three years ago warned Sarah Palin and members of her family to stop "disparaging" the reputation of Alaska State Trooper Michael Wooten, who at the time was undergoing a bitter separation and divorce from Palin's sister Molly.

Allegations that Palin, her husband Todd, and at least one top gubernatorial aide continued to vilify Wooten—after Palin became Alaska's governor and pressured state police officials to take action against him—are at the center of "Troopergate," a political and ethical controversy which has embroiled Palin's administration and is currently the subject of an official inquiry by a special investigator hired by the state legislature.

A little off topic, but definitely related.

Wasilla, AK is now blurred out on Goggle Maps.

By the way Rhandi, almost all of us Alaskans refer to the Mainland as the lower 48. It is a reference to number of contiguous states and latitude.

Keep digging though, there are lots of skeletons it seems in Wasilla and Juneau. We've learned about our Governor lately.

The "Permanent Fund" check: A portion of the states oil revenue is placed in a Permanent Fund which is invested. A percentage of the profits from this fund are paid out to legal residents each year.

Sarah did add an additional $1200, from the additional oil revenue, as an Energy Assistance program. She then had the checks come out a few weeks earlier.

Energy is a life of death situation in most parts of Alaska, with the highest cost in the nation. Go figure! However, I do see it as politically motivated. Installing wind, Solar and other alternatives in the hardest hit areas would have been more long term.

Also, it they really wanted to help those who really need it, they would have made it non attachable by creditors, which they didn't.
