Full Version: Sarah Palin's Children's Names

My daughter pointed out to me that there were shows on the WB (I believe) in which the main characters were witches. Since the names of Sarah Palin's kids occured about the time we thought that perhaps that is where she got them from. Willow was a character on Buffy the Vampire Slayer that was both a witch and a lesbian. Piper was a witch on Charmed a spin off from Buffy.
I believe this woman is nothing more than an opportunist, Conning all who might support her from the Christian right who most likely would reject the idea of witches to steadfast Republicans who somehow can't realize that their party is nothing like its inception.

Let's play the Sarah Palin name game (borrowed from another board).

This is the game where you pick the name for your future children! All five of them! First you name one after your favorite sport (Track), then the name of a town you grew up by (Bristol), next is your favorite Buffy character (Willow), following them is your favorite present in the Twelve Days of Christmas (Piper), and finally is your favorite kind of math (Trig).

I'll start:

La Crosse (after her running mate)
Bothell (no, it's not missing an "r")
Buffy (the only one I know)
Lords (after Madonna's daughter)
Analysis (which can be shortened -- he, he)

5 Golden Rings (?)

UM...

(You can't use "Screwing" for the first one, hunh?)

Can I use "Demonseed" for number three?

I'm all confused.

"Piper" always makes me think of Piper Laurie of Carrie fame.

Probably Sarah Palin's mothering role model.

QUOTE
Carrie: [coming down from upstairs, Margaret has called her down after the phonecall she received] Mama? Who was that, that called?
Margaret White: You're a woman now.
Carrie: Why didn't you tell me mama?
[Margaret strikes her over the head with the "Woman's Bible and begins to read a verse]
Margaret White: [reading] And God made Eve from the rib of Adam. And Eve was weak and loosed the raven on the world. And the raven was called sin. Say it, the raven was called sin.
Carrie: Why didn't you tell me, Mama?
Margaret White: Say it.
[hits Carrie in the face]
Margaret White: The raven was called sin.
Carrie: [Margaret hits her again] No, Mama.
[hits Carrie again]
Carrie: And the raven was called sin!
Margaret White: And the first sin was intercourse. The first sin was intercourse.
Carrie: I didn't sin, Mama.
Margaret White: Say it.
[hits her again]
Carrie: I didn't sin, Mama!
Margaret White: The first sin was intercourse. The first sin was intercourse. The first sin was intercourse.
Carrie: And the first sin was intercourse! Mama, I was so scared. I thought I was dying. And the girls, they all laughed at me and threw things at me, Mama.
[Margaret hits her again]
Margaret White: And Eve was weak, say it!
Carrie: No!
Margaret White: Eve was weak!
Carrie: No!
Margaret White: Eve was weak, say it woman!
Carrie: No!
Margaret White: Say it!
Carrie: Eve was weak, Eve was weak.
Margaret White: And the Lord visited Eve with the curse, and the curse was the curse of blood!
Carrie: You should have told me, Mama! You should have told me!
Margaret White: [kneels down and grabs Carrie's hand] Oh, Lord! Help this sinning woman see the sin of her days and ways. Show her that if she had remained sinless, this curse of blood would never have come on her!

Poor Bristol. I'm guessing a life with Hockey Puck and a kid beats life with Margaret White

Not that I don't doubt that Palin was unduly influenced to name her kids odd names, but here's a bit of Alaskana for your consideration:

Don't know where she got her sons' names. But, Bristol is the name of the bay to the west of Alaska -- where a lot of commericial fishermen spend their lives. Willow is the most common tree out in Wasilla (that, and I don't see her, weird as Palin is, naming her kid 'black spruce' or 'birch' the other most common trees out there), and Piper is the name of a type of airplane used in the Bush. By 'Bush' I mean rural Alaska. I'll explain this over in a different thread in Heard on the Show about How to Speak Alaskan.

What ever happened to good old fashioned biblical names like Elizabeth or Mary, since she is such a Bible toting mama??

Don't have that up near Wasilla . . . Birch, Willow, Spruce, Alder . . . that's about it. Have to give Palin some credit . . . she tried to fit in to Alaskan culture. Like a fish with a bloody bicycle.
