Can't say that I have actually. I make conscience choices in the type of places I work and socialize. I work for a small company that treats their employees like family.... I socialize jam band concerts were everyone seems to get along.... I don't go to bars.... I hang with like minded peeps. I guess the closest I get to a sociopath is in my car during rush hour.
Which is why I warned you that some people can't care about what they do to others. Because nice people like you won't see the sociopath coming when they do. Its nice to trust others and believe that everyone can attain a peaceful and friendly demeanor. However, when you trust too much you easily become a victim and I don't want that to happen to you.
We need all the nice people we can get. I remember the day I went after someone for railing on a newbie, calling them a troll, just because they didn't agree with what the newbie posted. It was a simple, harmless question and the member went ballistic.
The board isn't as mean as it once was. Its tamed down a bunch, trust me. But politics and the internet tend to bring out some of the individuals who get off on provoking others to anger. That's where the mod team comes in, to try to give the real members, the ones who want to talk, discuss, argue and learn, the opportunity to do so without these people disrupting and causing problems.
There are many things that happen behind the scenes that the membership doesn't see or know about because we won't/can't discuss them with you out of concern for the privacy of others. Rest assured, people do not get banned lightly and many times they have been given second, third, four and fifth chances before they are.
We can't have one person disrupting the entire board and membership. But neither are we totalitarians in our actions.
