Correct me if I am wrong, but Sarah Palin is NOT eligible to be president, and thus, should be removed from the Republican ticket.

You must be 45 years of age to be President of the United States.

Sarah Palin was born on February 11th. 1964 which means she will not be 45 until 22 days AFTER inauguration day, January 20th, 2009.

If something should happen to John McCain, and I am not suggesting that it should, then she will not be eligible to ascend to the presidency unless there is a special rule allowing it.

And, IMO, if she is NOT eligible to be president during that short time frame, then she should be made to withdraw from the campaign.

Just my opinion.

35 to be POTUS, isn't it?

At least she's older than me. By seven days.

Ya know, she was born on the day the Beatles played their first US concert.
How could something so bad, and something so good happen on the same day?

According to Article Two of the Constitution, yes.

Does that part of the document still exist? It seems so many don't.

I think it's 45. 35 for Senate, but I will check.

I am wrong, it IS 35. I dont know why but 45 stuck in my mind.

There should be a maximum age, too. Like maybe 65.

I got a better idea.

Just ban Republicans from eligibility. Problem solved.

Clause 5: Qualifications for office

No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

One good result of this election cycle

The term "natural born Citizen or a Citizen of the United States" has been clarified.

Since Mc Cain was born in Panama and the Congress voted that he was eligible to run for POUS, that opens the door for all the children of military families born while their parents were
stationed overseas.

Yes, much as I hate helping McCain, saying he's "Panamanian" is a canard. He was born in the US Canal Zone...which at the time was a US Territory, not part of Panama.

Well, forgive me, but I understand you ARE wrong. Just today I heard John McCain describe her as not ONLY qualified to be vice president, but as "the best candidate for Vice President in the history of the United States."

So, you will no doubt alter your thinking accordingly.

At the time they were writing this stuff, it was damned unusual to live long past 65. Adams and Jefferson making it into their 80s and 90s were NOT the norm.

When the US mandated the banning of the Ba'ath Party in Iraq after the regime change, I had the same thought about how much better it would be if the GOP were suspended from participating in US elections for a couple of generations or so, at least until we catch up with the civilized world.

For very similar reasons.

Shouldn't this be in the election section?

Or at least 70 at the high end. But it should be put on the people in the Senate & House of Representatives as well.
