If you're government is robbing you blind, sending your children off to some foreign land to die for oil, and eroding your human and civil rights, and you are smart enough to recognise those facts and want it to stop ... you are an elitist.
If on the other hand, you can listen to McCain criticize Hillary Clinton's old health plan by calling it "lipstick on a pig" and then listen to Obama criticize McCain's polices by calling them "lipstick on a pig", and are one of the select special group that is elite enough to ascertain that McCain was criticizing policy and Obama was making a sexist joke, then be careful, just because it may sound like you fit the perfect definition of "elitist", that's not so. All it really means is you're a Republican.
I think that from now on whenever a Republican comes along and espouses some half baked argument that requires a PhD in Chaos Theory to figure out how they got from reality to theory, I will simply call them an elitist.
