My fellow bloggers, it is Sunday 09/14/15....and it's about 8:45pm., for the past two weeks, I have not gone to church. I am a 58 year old black female and was "raised' in the church and have gone to church almost all of my life.
However, this past week has given me pause. For THE past two weeks, I have started to question GOD, I have realized the RACISM in a way is worst than it was when I grew in the 50' and 60's. Last week everything for me became full circle. My questions are if GOD is a just and merciful God why has let greed, racist, evil, lies and pure hatred rule this world. Since last week the lies, smearing and the overwhelming negative coverage of the MEDIA has been very depressing.
The majority of our society MUST be racist because the public is believing everything the MEDIA spews. If there was truly a GOD, why would he let evil and hatred continue for 2000 years and why is it that the black race is the most hated race in the world. We have done nothing to deserve this. My ancestors didn't volunteer to come here, they were drugged out their land and put on large ships and stacked like boxes and where several of them DIED before they reached America and only to be brought here and made slaves, beaten and tortured to no end.
Then supposedly several centuries later we were supposed to free but today we ARE still being legally beaten and tortured. The white man came over and took this land from the Indians and Hispanics and the control and greed continued.
Now in 2008 when every race of people has a chance to right the wrongs from a political standpoint, we find that Americans are the most gullible, naive and YES, in some way ignorant. With the economy broken, people lives broken, education systems broken and poverty at an all time high and of course made worse by the BUSH administration, Americans NOW WANT to continue these crisis with McCain. The public believes every lie and smear that the McCain camp has put out. And now they have this fanatical female come along who want to literally take women rights away from them that they have fought for for decades with the exception of voting and is willing to PUT THEM IN THE WHITEHOUSE TO CONTINUE THE TREND THAT WE HAVE GONE THROUGH FOR THE PAST 8 YEARS AND DECADES.
This is only happening because most White PEOPLE do not want to see a BLACK MAN IN THE WHITEHOUSE.

How long were the children of Israel subjugated by Egypt before Moses... You can't let attacks from the enemy cause you to lose faith in a great Ally. There are many things that have made me question my faith... like hearing about a family struck and killed on their way home from church. The thing about it is that I'm not God... How can I say God doesn't exist just because "he" doesn't operate the way I would like "him" to. In all honesty, I don't pray that Obama wins. Deep down I hope he does, and I will definitely be encouraging everyone I can to vote for him. But when I'm praying, I pray that whatever God's will is will happen. I don't have the foresight to know what is going to happen. I can't go around praying for oil pipelines, wars and such, not knowing God's will (in these kinds of everyday circumstances). So if anything... pray that he doesn't get assassinated, and continue to do what it takes to get him into office. He's going to win IMO. Even racists will vote for him so they can say, "I'm not racist, I voted for Obama!" If anything, he's the candidate that represents Jesus' mission the most. A campaign of truth for the people to unite, and lead by example.

I am no bible scholar, so I may not know where to send you in the book for what you need. My personal feelings are rooted in my faith. I am unwilling to give in to anyone or anything that tries to harm me mentally or physically. God gave us free will, right? Problem being in Genesis Adam gave his personal dominion to satan. Who will you give yours to?

Making it seem like a fairy tale is pure genius. I mean how could someone create everything in six days? And all the contradictions, how can I believe that it's impossible, right? You should know that it, along with all of the other "bibles" are compilations of divine revelations. The hell with whether someone changed something to make it easy to control you, what does it reveal to you?

As an atheist, I didn't at first answer your post, thinking I'd come across as taking advantage of your current feelings. Although I don't agree with JRun's religion, his answer to you was otherwise very well put. Racism in the US is definitely an institution; it really is better than it was in the 50s and 60s but we have so far to go.

Then supposedly several centuries later we were supposed to free but today we ARE still being legally beaten and tortured. The white man came over and took this land from the Indians and Hispanics and the control and greed continued.
Now in 2008 when every race of people has a chance to right the wrongs from a political standpoint, we find that Americans are the most gullible, naive and YES, in some way ignorant. There are respectable athiests on the board and then there are some that try to force their athiest beliefs on you. Stay strong. Believe me, if Obama doesn't get elected because of fraud, then his base (which includes plenty of young-mortality-non-observant supporters) will definitely be in the streets. Hopefully in an organized fashion. We can accomplish much more through organized protests and rebellion than riots. We have learned a lot from your generation and previous generations and have yet to exercise the lessons en masse. This would definitely constitute an opportune time for such; and the world would obviously stand in solidarity with us.

Yet everytime anyone mentions an iota of sympathy towards a religion, the floodgates open containing statements of how ridiculous their God is accompanied by multiple insinuations about how unintelligible the person must be. Simply bringing up a religion or the beliefs of that religion is not forcing dogma down a persons throat. Bringing up a persons beliefs do nothing to impose upon you; you can simply not take part in that conversation. Discussion does nothing to offend you in that sense. Neither science nor religion can show what caused the big bang. (Science does not negate religion nor does the vice versa occur.) With religion we're left with what the religious text tells us. With science, we're on the road of string theory where the postulated particles that it ascribes to are so small it will never be possible to see them. Neither science nor religion can show what caused the big bang. (Science does not negate religion nor does the vice versa occur.) With religion we're left with what the religious text tells us. With science, we're on the road of string theory where the postulated particles that it ascribes to are so small it will never be possible to see them. Therefore, in both cases we're left with assumptions based on what we know. In both cases there is still a lot of work needed in understanding. Religions vary in philosophies too though. If I had an umbrella term for religion and athiesm... it would probably be philosophy. Like you said, the difference is the belief in deities.
Christians and other theists claiming atheism is a "religion" is just more of the same: religionists imposing their limited understanding of the world onto others.
There are more options than just "religion" and "atheism". But people who live their lives according to strict religiously-based binaries can't comprehend that, yet.

I know that athiest don't need to think in terms of god(s) existing or not... but because there are people on earth that do believe in god(s), the classifications exist to exemplify a difference. I think you're thinking within a box that is labeled... "only athiest have proper perspective."

ALL "Christians" are "real" Christians, even some of us nonchristians.
Being a product of "christianity", when I'm with my nonchristian friends, I often stick out as the cultural "christian" whether I believe in "christianity" or Jesus or any of those other people, or not. Some friends of mine, raised athiest, follow the christian calendar, which is the default calendar of the country we live in.
Part of the folly of christianity is its 6000 different sects, all claiming primacy in christian doctrine, pointing at all others claiming they're not "real" christians.
All of them are full of crap.
