I work for a fairly large school district. I would say that the majority of the school personal are Dem's. However I work in an office with 3 other people and they are are all Repub's.

I tend to keep my political preferences to my self in my work environment because I don't want to cause a cause friction at work.

Today one them announced that her husband got to see McCain and Palin this morning and that he was really impressed with her. "She was so articulate and had a ton of charisma."

I had to bite my tongue. The only thing I was able to say was that McCain wasn't there. I wanted to say that she is articulate because she has great speech writers and has been giving the same speech for a week and probably finally has it memorized. I wanted to ask if she took questions from the crowd.

Do any of you work someplace where you afraid to express your political opinion and how do you handle it?

How about an innocent sounding question (as in what you were thinking), 'Did Palin answer any questions from the crowd?'

Knowing that the answer is probably no, you could follow it up with an equally innocent comment about how unfortunate that is; that you are uneasy with such a top job opening, with not much of an interview.

Just an idea. Only you can gauge how people are going to react, and whether it is worth saying anything that might make your work environment uncomfortable. I like to plant a seed, with the hope that it sprouts into some sort of curiosity, anyway.
