McCain Supported A Banking Bill Because It Eliminated "The Tremendous Regulatory Burden Imposed On Financial Institutions." While speaking in favor of bank deregulation on the floor of the senate, John McCain said, "This legislation takes a small but important step toward eliminating the tremendous regulatory burden imposed on financial institutions... One principal reason banks are unable to make loans is the bewildering array of statutory and regulatory restrictions and paperwork requirements imposed by Congress and the regulatory agencies. In 1999, John McCain voted for passage of the Senate version of a bill that would eliminate current barriers erected by the 1933 Glass-Steagall Act and other laws that impede affiliations between banking, securities, insurance and other firms. The bill also would exempt small, non-urban banks from the 1977 Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), revise the Federal Home Loan Bank system and require that owners of automated teller machines (ATMs) provide notice on the ATM and on-screen of any charges imposed for the use of the terminal. Regulation IS Deregulation

The strength of the Republican Party has been the threat that "We have a cadre of millions who will believe anything that we say, including this piece of dreck."

It is terrifying.

As a completely illogical statement, it cannot be refuted to someone who cannot see its intrinsic falsity. It is the Kool-Aid test; if you have drunk the Kool-Aid, you cannot be brought around by logic.

EXPERIENCE IS CHANGE.

This is the other, softer logical conundrum of the campaign. This one can be tangentially argued by the pseudo-rational.

It takes a certain quality in a Dear Leader to hand out complete dreck, and have the citizenry lick it up (absent the world of Oceania, where people seemed to believe out of fear of their hides.)

Reagan did it good. Dubya did it pretty good. But Johnzo doesn't have the golden tongue.

Obama certainly looks like a rare bird - a populist. He is asking the American People what THEY want. He doesn't have to spew nonsense - all he needs to do is listen.
