Full Version: CNN Debunks Lies Of McAncient Camp.

This is by far the most thorough debunking I’ve seen to date on the myriad of lies coming from Team McCain.

http://www.crooksandliars.com/2008/09/17/c...n-campaign-lie/

Obama wants to teach sex to kindergarteners? Lie.

Palin opposed the Bridge to Nowhere? Lie.

Palin hasn’t taken earmarks as Governor? Lie.

Alaska produces 20% of America’s energy? Lie.

Palin visited Iraq and Ireland? Lie.

HT Jed, who adds:

As the campaign moves towards a focus on the economy, it’s worth keeping in mind that McCain’s lies are relevant because the demonstrate the fundamental emptiness of his campaign. He is devoid of ideas and solutions; lies are the only thing McCain has left.

Well, its a start.

McCain's campaign manager looked kind of familiar...

Much as I appreciate this, and I do - and CNN is not the first to do a similarly thorough debunking of the McCain bullshit, I also resent the repeated statements about "both sides" doing it.

I disagree with Obama, and many here at RRMB, routinely contorting McCain's "100 years" statement into his having supposedly expressed a willingness or eagerness to see the Iraq war go 100 years. But beyond that, there is virtually NOTHING comparable to what McCain is putting about Obama every day, and the bullshit about his own positions and record - and those of Palin - every day.

This "They ALL do it" rationalization is what is allowing so many righties to wave their hands dismissively at and avert their eyes from the fact that their candidate is relying almost exclusively on lying about his own ticket and about his opponent's record.

I do agree on these points for sure. But at least they're debunking.

Well then you should appreciate this: True Whoppers, by Ruth Marcus at The Washington Post

QUOTE
Excerpt:

Both candidates are guilty of playing trivial pursuit in a serious season, campaigning from gotcha to gotcha. Obama also has eagerly taken every cheap shot -- McCain wants to stay in Iraq for 100 years, doesn't get the economy, can't count his own houses. Neither candidate is running the honest, confront-the-hard-questions campaign he promised.

McCain's transgressions, though, are of a different magnitude. His whoppers are bigger; there are more of them. He -- the easy out would be to say "his campaign" -- has been misleading, and at times has outright lied, about his opponent. He has misrepresented -- that's the charitable verb -- his vice presidential nominee's record. Called on these fouls, he has denied and repeated them.

McSame did say it did not matter whether we stayed there 100 years, so eat it McGrampy. Sorry if shit doesn't taste good.
